The park surrounding the Kempinski Palace was declared as a natural monument in 1983 because of its unique and creative arrangement of trees and flowers.

Portorož is one of the best-known tourist destinations in Slovenia and one of the most important tourist centres on the Slovene coast. It is well known for its fragrant roses, the harbour, its salt pans, for the mild climate, the surrounding hills and its friendly, outgoing people.
